The balance between memorization and reaction/intuition is weighted too deeply in the former. This whole fight is really highlighting the flaws in the combat system. Drained 9 whole bars of Stitch just waiting for the ukulele to stun him.

Zero openings and I still only know how to defend against the first 10 seconds. He just did his stupid never-ending combo four times in a row. Maybe I can chug an elixir.Įdit: Oh my god this fight sucks. My Stitch strategy falls apart because he does his desperate move and has no openings for like 30 seconds. KH1 is still my favorite story on repeats but 2 is definitely the best playing (barring any change of opinion based on 3's updates and limit cut stuff).Īnd I played through 3 near launch on proud but it was from a borrowed copy so I never did a 2nd playthrough on crit and probably won't get around to remind/limit cut bosses for a while.Īghhhh, Lingering Will down to his last bar, then suddenly all of my spells are locked. KH1 is still my favorite as far as the worlds go because of the way they feel integrated into the story (the fact the disney villains are the main "threat" for most the game). I get that it's because it's split across 3 characters but that doesn't really change the fact the worlds just feel so empty, even in comparison to 1 and 2 which aren't great but felt like they at least had stuff going on. The extremely basic worlds is really lame to me. The game being easier won't make me think more highly of the combat which I just think is fundamentally. Besides I'm basically done with Terra's story at this point and probably won't take much longer to get through the others. But I'd rather the combat ask me to care rather than just way too much leeway.

And that's not touching the hilariously stilted dialogue (moreso than usual) and the small and incredibly basic worlds.Įeeeh, I mean you're not wrong in that playing on a lower difficulty will at least make things go by quicker and maybe be more enjoyable.

It's sluggish, the core attack is ass, the game doesn't really gesture to what you're supposed to focus on as far as the skills go and you basically have to bumble your way through melding until you find stuff that is remotely decent and just rely on the shotlock to do the heavy lifting in most of the fights because it's high damage full invincibility.

I'm playing on crit and almost done with Terra's story and the sluggish more "RPG" focused combat and built around a pseudo card system is god damn shit.

That being said I started playing BBS for the first time and. The design of the fights themselves is interesting but the actual combat design feels like it's basically bumbling its way through and sometimes getting lucky and being decent (like with 1 and 2). The data org and Lingering Will fights in 2FM are pretty good, I just wish the combat was tighter in general (mainly the hilariously large start up the guard has always had). This is probably the best place to post instead of a new thread or w/e but I have been going through some of the content I missed in KH2FM (the post game stuff on crit) and trying out some of the other games starting with BBS that I just never played.
